Well, little Sylvia is now 7 weeks old. She’s a smart little thing… at 5 weeks she figured out how to roll over from front to back and did it several times. At 6 and a half weeks, she figured out how to roll from her back to her side (but couldn’t figure out what to do after that) and she can imitate some things that my husband and I say to her. Mainly “Hey!” and “Play!”. She can also hold her head steady when I sit her up.
She’s a lot of fun and very cute… she can grab things pretty well now, can creep a little ways when we put her on her tummy, and tries to “walk” when we stand her up on our laps. She also smiles and coos a lot now; it’s so very cute. 🙂
Here’s a picture of her at 6 and a half weeks:
As for me, I’m trying to lose some weight now. I’m at 238 lbs right now (I was 245 or so when I got pregnant)… but when my husband and I met, I was about 170. I looked good, and I was in the proper BMI range… I miss that body, but just before Andrew and I got married, I went off of Prozac and switched to Lexapro… and apparently, Prozac is an appetite suppressant and Lexapro is not. So when I went off of it, I was suddenly very hungry all the time, and I gained 70 lbs in a three month period. It was very depressing.
Now I’m off anti-depressants altogether, but I’m still heavy.
I can’t really do a regular sort of diet, because I’m breastfeeding and you’re supposed to make sure you get the right amounts of carbs, fruits, veggies, vitamins… etc. So instead I’m counting calories. I found this great site at about.com called “calorie count plus” and it is wonderful! It lets you keep track of how many calories you’re burning, how many you’re eating, what activities you’re doing, it gives you food suggestions, it gives you a nutritional “grade” (A through F, just like school), it lets you keep track of your weight, it lets you keep a journal… it has forums… it has so much stuff that I just can’t list all its virtues here. I think that it will help me a lot, because my biggest problem is my tendency to overeat. Counting calories makes me look at what I’m eating and how much of it I’m eating and helps me keep my appetite in check.
Also, my husband is going to try and get me a Wii Fit for my birthday, so that I can use that to measure my BMI and body weight and also work out. I’m very excited! I hope that it will help me lose some weight.
In other news, Andrew has a new job at Bluehost. He quit at Heritage Web Solutions (as did I, of course), because all they care about these days is sales. It’s no longer about helping the customer, it’s about selling stuff to the customer. Andrew seems to like Bluehost a lot more. I also like their control panel interface for websites a lot more than the one they had at Heritage. They gave Andrew a free website too! So that’s cool. 🙂
As for Arwen, our Rhodesian Ridgeback, she was in a show back at the end of April, beginning of May, here in Utah. She won first place in her class (Open Bitches) and then won Best of Winners at the Saturday show! It was a major win and she got 3 points from it, which is great! We were very excited.
Also, this weekend (memorial day weekend), we ran Arwen in a lure coursing competition. She got her Junior Coursing title in her first two tries at the course… then we ran her in the AKC Field Trial in the Open division, and she tied for first place! In the runoff between the two winners, she ended up getting second though, because the other dog had only run 3 times that day and Arwen had run 4… plus we haven’t really been working on endurance with Arwen. We will be now though! 🙂 The Field trial was a major as well (5 points), so since Arwen got 2nd, she gets 3 points towards her Field Championship! So we are well on our way to her becoming a Dual Champion. 🙂 It’s pretty exciting!
Here’s a picture of Arwen (K-Tai Destiny’s Joy, J.C.) at her major win for conformation!:
Well, that’s about it! Lots going on! Hope you all are doing well. 🙂
