Wii Fit Diet, Day 15

June 27, 2008 at 7:37 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Day 15! Yay!

Weight: 229.9

BMI: 32.92

Wii Fit Age: 24 (no agility test. Not sure why this happened.)

Difference from two days ago: -1.1 lbs

Pound difference from starting weight: -8.9 lbs (over 20 days)

Peach left a comment with a pretty cool tip today! I did not know this:

Hey did you know in that free step, you can completely turn off the sound and step as fast or slow as you like, in any way, front or back, sideways, and it will still record your steps…so your goal maybe 800 steps, I was able to do over a 1,000 in 10 minutes. I find it boring listening to the sound, when I know I can move faster and in different directions…give that a try.

So I’ll try that tomorrow probably. :) I wasn’t able to exercise yesterday because my husband and I were out looking at apartments. Luckily we found one that we liked, so we don’t have to look anymore. Now we’re just looking for some one to live in our apartment. So I can exercise… for now. Next week we’re going to vegas for four days and then we’ll be moving, so we’ll see what happens then. Heh.

Anyway, good workout today! I almost died while doing Super Hula Hoop today. I was working at it really hard. My husband was impressed… before he saw me exercise doing that, he suggested that I go outside and run too, because he didn’t think Wii Fit worked me hard enough to burn enough calories. But he thinks differently now! Lots of fun! Same workout as two days ago, which I think is working fantastically for me! I can’t believe I’ve lost almost 9 lbs now! That’s CRAZY! Woohoo!

Good luck everyone else!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 14

June 25, 2008 at 6:29 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Woot! Day 14 has arrived and I’m feeling better than ever!

Weight: 231.0

BMI: 33.08

Wii Fit Age: 24 (stupid Agility test again! Two days in a row…)

Difference from yesterday: -1.8 lbs

Pound difference from starting weight: -7.8 lbs (over 18 days)

I really need to get a flexible measuring tape, so that I can take my measurements… I think that would be nice to see.

I am seeing a difference in my shape, I think. My butt looks a little smaller at least. :P Mostly I feel different. I find myself feeling more energetic, happy and confident throughout the day. It’s great! I know that sounds like a diet commercial, but it’s so true!

Still doing the same workout as before: 10 minutes of Advanced Step (which I got a high score of 667 pts on today! Yay me!), 10 minutes of Super Hula Hoop and 10 minutes of Free Run. Now I have 1 more week before I go down to Vegas for the 4th of July, where we visit my husband’s family… and swim a lot. So I’m hoping I can drop two more pounds, so that I can feel more confident in my swimming suit. :P

Anyway, that’s all!

Good Luck everyone else!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 13

June 24, 2008 at 7:28 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Lucky Day 13 stats:

Weight: 232.8 lbs

BMI: 33.33

Wii Fit Age: 27 (stupid Agility test again)

Difference from yesterday: +.7 lbs

Pound difference from starting weight: -6 lbs

I thought I’d start tracking the differences in my weight gain and lost so people can see what it looks like. :)

Just a normal day, nothing out of the ordinary, except for stupid Super Hula Hoop in the second half was not following my hip swinging. All of my hoops fell off with 40 seconds to go, despite the fact that I was swinging around in a circle as hard as I could. I went and checked the board after that and it said it was fine, so I don’t know what the heck it was doing. It worked just fine for the first half of hula hooping. Grr.

Anyway, it was a good workout today. I sweated more than ever! Whether that’s due to working harder or just the fact that it’s hotter outside, I don’t know, but I felt like I was getting those calories worked off!

Avlor wanted to know yesterday how I can manage to do 10 minute Super Hula Hoop. The way I get myself through it, actually, is by putting on some music that I really feel like shaking my booty to. Since nobody is watching me except my 3 month old daughter when I exercise, I can shake my booty to the music without feeling self conscious. And no one throws up. :P Now, my booty shaking music may be different than your booty shaking music, but here’s what I listened to today:

Curbside Prophet – Jason Mraz (from the Tonight Not Again Live from the Eagles Ballroom CD. It’s very awesome.)
Airport Song – Guster
Clockwatching – Jason Mraz

I liked Jason Mraz before it was cool to like Jason Mraz, btw, I know he’s jumped in popularity lately, but I liked him long, long ago.

Anyway, that’s it for today! I gotta go shower or something. Ick.

Good luck!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 12

June 23, 2008 at 7:01 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Alright, so I was going to exercise on Saturday, but I turned on the wii fit, got on the scale and had the following weight stats:

Weight: 238.8 lbs

BMI: 34.18

Wii Fit Age: Nothing, because I just wanted to die.

Considering that that is exactly how much I weighed when I started Wii Fit two weeks ago, I sat down and started to cry. I was so sad, I couldn’t believe it. My husband pottered over to me and was like “Are you ok?”, as tears poured down my face. I had been so happy that I’d lost almost 3 pounds, and now it had all of a sudden jumped back on me, despite being very good with my exercising and my diet. I was so depressed I didn’t exercise. And of course I don’t exercise on Sundays, so I didn’t get on it until today, just now. And guess what?

Weight: 232.1

BMI: 33.23

Wii Fit Age: 20

Total weight lost: 6.7 lbs in 16 days.

Seriously, What The Heck? Was I somehow retaining 6.7 lbs of water? I’m wearing the same clothes, ate the same way… I even reweighed myself to make sure it wasn’t a glitch. But sho’ nuff, it still said 232 lbs.

So total, I’m down 6.7 pounds from my starting weight and down 7.3 lbs from the most I ever weighed while I’ve been playing.

Today I only exercised for 30 minutes again. 30 minutes is so much easier to do than a whole hour. An hour is forever. 30 minutes is great. I’ve decided on kind of a routine now too… 10 minutes of advanced step, 10 minutes of Super Hula Hoop and 10 minutes of Free Run. I do it that way because Advanced Step is kind of slow and works well as a warm-up, then Super Hula Hoop really gets my heart going and then I move to Free Run, which I can start hard, then I can slowly warm down at the end. It seems to work fine!

Well, I hope my weight is similar tomorrow, or I might break down again. :P My poor hubby.

Hope you’re all doing well! Good luck!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 11

June 20, 2008 at 10:21 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Day 11… I’m a little down today, so today’s blog might be a little lackluster. Here are today’s stats:

Weight: 238.5

BMI: 34.15

Wii Fit Age: 20

My weight was up today, though that may be because I weighed myself at like 8 pm, which is a lot later than I normally weigh myself. Usually I exercise at about 5 pm, just before dinner… but my hubby is home on Fridays and we went and saw Get Smart at 4, so we didn’t get home til 6. Then my hubby wanted to play Super Mario Galaxy for a bit, so I let him play that. Get Smart is a really, really funny movie, by the way. Go see it. :)

Today I exercised for 32 minutes. I’m getting lazy, but I’ve also had a string of days where I’ve just been tired or not feeling well. I’m not sure if I should attribute this to possibly eating too few calories or just to being a new mother, which is exhausting in and of itself. It’s hard to tell.

Anyway, did the 10 minute Super Hula Hoop (again!), 10 minute Free Run and 10 minutes of Advanced Step. I’m starting to go from liking the step games the most to liking the running and hula hooping instead. I feel like I’m working out a lot more when I run and hula hoop. I even got a cramp today while hula hooping and that tells me I’m workin’ hard

Thanks for your comments everyone! The comments help keep me motivated to keep going. And special thanks to Tanja from Germany, who saved me from having to look up how to add outside activities to Wii Fit. :)

Good luck to all you fellow Wii Fit-ters!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 10

June 19, 2008 at 9:45 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

And Day 10 of the Wii Fit Diet arrives in all it’s triumphant splendor! Today’s stats:

Weight: 236.8 lbs

BMI: 33.90

Wii Fit Age: 26

Today the Balance Board had me do that dratted Agility test again, raising my Wii Fit Age to 26. I only managed to get through 15 of the “levels” in it in 30 seconds and that’s just not good enough, apparently. :P

In other news: I’m up half a pound. I am at peace with that.

Today I actually did it… I did the 10 minute Super Hula Hoops. Avlor, who commented on my last blog, gave me the advice to try doing it while listening to music. So I did! And it worked great! I was ranked as a calorie incinerator despite my earlier qualms about even being able to finish it at all.

I also decided to do Free Run for the first time and I listened to music for the 10 minutes that I ran that. The Wii told me that I ran 2 miles in 10 minutes, but I very much doubt that. I think the fastest mile I’ve ever run is 9 minutes, so I’m pretty sure I just ran a mile… if that.

Overall, I just did 28 minutes of working out today because I also walked to the bank with the baby in the stroller and that took at least 20 minutes. Incidentally, I cannot figure out how to enter extra-curricular activities into the Wii Fit. I suppose I could look it up or something, but that would be too much work.

I’ve been reading, by the way, and I’ve heard there are some more fitness games due to come out that utilize the balance board. Like one from “The Biggest Loser” (which I’ve only heard about and never watched) that is supposedly due out during the holiday season. That’s good, because by then I’ll probably be sick of Wii Fit. :D

Well that’s about it for today! Good luck to everyone!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 9

June 18, 2008 at 8:22 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Day 9! I’m still doing it!

Today’s stats:

Weight: 236.3 lbs

BMI: 33.83

Wii Fit Age: 20

Oh my goodness… Is this wii fit diet really and in all actuality working for me? I can hardly believe it. I’ve never, ever had results like this before with any diet/exercise program that I’ve tried. I’m down 2.8 pounds from when I started 11 days ago (I’ve worked out 9 days out of the last 11, which is where “day 9″ comes from). And I even fudged on my eating really badly those two days earlier this week (and when I say bad, I mean like, I ate 1000 more calories than I was supposed to (when you normally eat 1700 calories, 1000 extra calories is a lot). Hey, it was my birthday!).

This feels so good! I’m so excited! I just can’t believe my eyes! I think I might even get out a measuring tape and measure my waist and whatnot so that I can see how my size changes. I didn’t bother the first day, because honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything to happen. I was expecting to get bored, stop playing wii fit, and just stay fat. But now I have motivation! Woohoo!

So anyway, today I worked out for 32 minutes. I was feeling kind of bloated (I think because I drank a lot of diet soda) and so not really into working out for very long. But I did make myself work out for those 32 minutes and I’m glad I did.

I ran the island lap again (I’ve tried to incorporate the running more into my workout, because from what I’ve read, that burns the most calories… about as much as running on a treadmill does). And I did Advanced Step a couple of times, as well as hula hooping for 6 minutes. I keep on trying to get up the gumption to do the 10 minute Super Hula Hoop, but I just can’t… it just seems like forever! Maybe if they split it into 4 parts instead of just 2, I would do it… but they don’t, and so I just keep chickening out.

As far as the diet goes… counting my calories and only eating 1700 calories a day really works out well. With what I eat every day, I don’t find myself getting hungry or anything really. I did have a hard time with cutting out sugar from my foods though. I am a sugar junkie. I love candies, cake, Little Debbies, soda… all that stuff, and it doesn’t help that my husband can eat all of that stuff all the time and be right in the middle of the normal BMI range. It also didn’t help that we had lots of that hanging around the house. BUT I discovered a solution for myself! I found Diet A&W Rootbeer, and it is fantastic! It doesn’t taste gross like a lot of diet sodas do. Sure, it’s not good for you salt wise, but I’ll trade that for losing weight any day. Yay for A&W!

The other thing I do is I buy a lot of sugar-free Jello and eat that when I’m hungry. It tastes about as good as real Jello does, and it’s somewhat filling, and it curbs my appetite… so it’s great! :D

Well, that’s all folks!

P.S. I’ve suddenly seen a huge uptick in my daily visitors… it’s kind of creepy. Before I started blogging about my Wii Fit Diet, I was getting 15 visitors a day, and the day before yesterday I had 61. Today, I’ve had 115. I don’t know where you’re all coming from… but hi! I hope if you’re looking to lose weight that this blog will serve as an inspiration to you!

Other Things

June 17, 2008 at 8:23 pm (General Life, baby)

So this blog entry is not about Wii Fit. It is about me and my baby. Just in case any one got lost.

Not too much has been happening lately… We blessed Sylvia the Sunday before last and that was really neat. Here’s a picture of Sylvia in her blessing dress:

Sylvia at 8 weeks old.

This is the same dress that I was blessed in and that my mom and her two sisters were blessed in. So it’s been through a few babies now and is a little more than 40 years old. I think it’s very pretty. It also had a hat, but I was not feeling it at all, so we didn’t use it.

So now Sylvia is 2 1/2 months, and boy is she a cutie pie! She has learned how to grab things, and so is grabbing and touching EVERYTHING she can. Her toys, my hair, my shirt, the couch… etc. Whenever I hold her while I’m sitting on the couch, she always throws herself towards the fabric so that she can run her hands across it and coo at it. And she has to sit up. No more laying down for Sylvia, she hates that unless she’s sleeping. She wants to sit up.

She loves trying to imitate the things I say, like “Good Job!” she responds to with “Goo Jaa” and “I love you” with “Ah Gooo Ooo”. She also imitates me when I kiss her hands (which I do a lot). I’ll put my thumbs out so she can grab them with her hands, then I bring her hands up to my mouth and kiss them. Once I’ve done that, she’ll pull my hands to her mouth and click her tongue (which makes a noise kind of like a kiss). Sometimes she also licks me on accident, then she makes a face like “Eww… what is that?”. It’s adorable. I must admit, my baby is so dang cute! :P

She’s progressed pretty far as far as muscles go and she loves standing. She can balance herself pretty well… I can sit her on the ground, put her feet up against my foot and then let her grab my thumbs, and if I slowly raise my hands up, she’ll pull herself into a stand. She’ll then stand on the ground just balancing herself occasionally against my hands, which are in front of her. It’s pretty impressive.

She can’t quite balance by herself in a sit yet though (she can if she’s holding my thumbs), which is just fine, because she’s not supposed to sit for a while anyway.

Anyway, enough about my fabulous baby. :P My turn!

As far as I go, I’ve just been working out and trying to lose weight still. I’m still at home all day with Sylvia, which is a lot of fun. :)

For a while, I’ve been aching to play The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, but we couldn’t find the collector’s edition of Zelda for gamecube anywhere for cheaper than $30, so I was kind of bummed. But Andrew and I had this great idea of buying a usb controller, getting an N64 emulator on our computer and getting the Majora’s Mask ROM, and then hooking our computer up to the TV! So now I’m playing through Majora’s Mask, and Andrew is playing through Master Quest. It’s awesome.

That’s about it though! In a couple of weeks we’ll be going down to Vegas for the 4th of July, which will be LOTS of fun.

Anyway, hope you’re all doing great!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 8

June 17, 2008 at 7:36 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Alright… Day 8 on my Wii Fit Diet! Woohoo!

Weight: 237.0 lbs

BMI: 33.93

Wii Fit Age: 20

Woohoo! This is great! I’m down to 237 again already! Yay me! I even weighed myself several times today, and every time it was 237, so I’m pretty thrilled!

Today I only exercised for 30 minutes. This is because 15 minutes into my workout, my baby decided she was hungry. So I fed her. After that, I just felt too worn out to do much more than another 15 minutes, so I just did 15 and left it at that. Did the island run again… I must say, one thing I really like about the running game is that every time it takes you a different way… Now, the Wii’s graphics aren’t spectacular or anything, but I do enjoy seeing different areas of the “park” area that the Mii’s run in.

And of course I did Super Hula Hoop and Advanced Step again. Today when I played advanced step, I had George Bush and Napoleon Dynamite stepping right next to me! I was thrilled, and so I took a slightly crooked picture for you:

George Bush and Napoleon Dynamite doing Advanced Step with me.

Well, that’s all again! Peace!

Wii Fit Diet, Day 7

June 16, 2008 at 10:39 pm (Fat, wii fit) (, , , , , )

Day 7. :D I skipped 2 days because I am a bad girl, and I wanted to eat cake and celebrate my birthday and I was being lazy. However, I did exercise today, even though it is my real birthday.

Weight: 238.1 lbs

BMI: 34.02

Wii Fit Age:31

I went up a pound today. I don’t mind that really, because I really didn’t eat well on Saturday or Sunday, and so I expected it. That is alright with me. Now I’ll go back to my diet and be a good girl, and hopefully I’ll drop some more weight off.

My Wii Fit age is really high because the balance board had me do this Agility Test, where you have to hit these squares by shifting your balance… apparently, I’m not so good at doing that. The balance board is surprisingly blunt sometimes. Like when it tells me that I’m not good at the Agility Test. Luckily, it is not real, so I can ignore it all I want.

The balance board actually told me happy birthday today (and it calculated my age, 22… good job, balance board)! I was pleasantly surprised by that. I didn’t think it would notice. Then it told me I don’t have to be worried about getting old as long as I am fit. I am so very glad the balance board told me that, because I was so very scared of getting old and weak. Thank you balance board.

I exercised for 58 minutes today, hoping to offset the billions of calories I ate on Saturday and Sunday. I mostly did step aerobics again… I free stepped for 30 minutes while watching “Eight Below”… a movie that always makes me tear up, because I’m a sucker for sad dog movies. :P I also ventured out of my comfort zone and played Rhythm Boxing on Expert (10 minutes), and it was surprisingly gratifying. I did pretty well and got a four star rating, and the trainer told me that I did a good job. Usually he tells me “Come on, you can do better than that.”, so I was again, pleasantly surprised. Maybe it was because it was my birthday. I don’t know.

I couldn’t bring myself to do 10 minute Super Hula Hoop, but I did do the 6 minute one and got a high score. I think I’m getting better at it. Hopefully someday I can hula hoop like “Wii Fit Underwear Girl”. Then, when I’ve lost all of my remaining 69 pounds, I will play hula hoop in my underwear, just like her.

Well, that’s about it!

See ya again tomorrow!
